NOV$KEY - Run Novell w/o Keycard Release 1.1
(C) Copyright 1987 - Allan Teo - ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
NOV$KEY is a MS-DOS (tm) compatible program that modifies
Advanced Netware (tm) Version 2.0a so you no longer need the keycard.
This program is not designed for you to Pirate/steal etc Novell's software.
Sometimes the keycard will not function past 11Mhz+ bus speeds which
will result in a 'security violation'. Nov$key solves this problem
and in doing so, frees up a valuable slot in the network file server.
For whatever legal reason you will use this program, use it on your own
paid for, legal version of Advanced Netware. Hidden serial numbers
are not removed by NOV$KEY. If you pirate your novell netware, you
can still be tracked down!
I have tested this program with the protected mode advanced 286 version.
But the following should work with NOV$KEY:
Advanced NetWare 86; Advanced NetWare 286 Dedicated
Non-Dedicated; System Fault Tolerant Levels 1 and 2.
To get rid of your keycard perform the following steps:
(By the way you do not need the key card for this process)
Make backup copies of the three (3) GENOS diskettes.
Make Drive A: the default drive. Place the KeyCard
Eliminator diskette in Drive A: Type GEN$KEY and press <ENTER>
USE the BACKUP diskettes for this operation. KEEP the originals now!
You will be prompted to insert the GENOS diskette in
Drive A: Follow the instructions displayed.
If you are working with System Fault Tolerant Level 2,
there will be four (4) GENOS diskettes and you will use GENOS diskette #4.
In any case if there is any problem, use the DIR command to
look for the file net$os.obj
A monitor program called NOV.EXE is included so you can see what
the keycard is emiting. Type NOV at the dos prompt with the keycard
inserted. The little black blob on the card is probably only a small
PAL or some special ROM which contains the serial number. Port
address of the card starts at HEX 238. Port 238 and 239 always return 0.

You should not charge a fee of more than $3.00 for copying this software.
Warranty:
Well as I say again, you have been instructed to make BACKUP COPIES
of your GENOS diskettes. Work only with the backup copies.
Nov$key directly modifies net$os.obj, it does not make a backup.
If it does not work, then you probably do not have version 2.00a.
Do not, under any circumstances copy INSTALL.EXE and DISKED.EXE to the
diskette or hardrive which NET$OS.EXE resides. If you do so you will have
problems. INSTALL.EXE and DISKED.EXE are normally found together
in the INSTALL diskette. But they are never found on the same diskette
as NET$OS.EXE.
INSTALL.EXE and DISKED.EXE contains additional keycard checks
and if mixed with net$os.exe on the same diskette, they become explosive!
